Care Assistant/Care & Support Worker Jobs at Altogether Care

If you enjoy helping people and want to make a difference to their lives, this job could just be what you are looking for.

Carers are at the absolute heart of what we do, delivering frontline care within our Care Homes and Care at Home service. In our Care Homes, the Carers support the nursing staff by providing the majority of hands-on care. Out in the community within Care at Home, the Carers give care and support to people who have difficulties with their daily activities, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

Variety is assured as each of our clients is treated as an individual and many will have differing care and support needs. Job satisfaction is guaranteed as you will be making a positive difference to their overall comfort and wellbeing.

A Carer’s duties will vary depending on the needs of the individual but can include:

  • assisting and enabling
  • washing and dressing
  • taking food and refreshment
  • mobility
  • toileting
  • bed making
  • providing interest and activities to stimulate and engage the service user
  • monitoring individuals’ conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight
  • contributing to record keeping

Whilst it is useful for job applicants to have had experience in a caring role, what makes a great Carer is a friendly and caring approach and the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds. Patience and a sense of humour are important too! All new Carers are given industry standard induction training, to include health and safety, manual handling and food hygiene and will be encouraged to undertake professional training, i.e. the Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Many Carers progress to a Senior Carer role or other supervisory position. Some will go on to become Registered Nurses.
