Live in Carer Jobs at Altogether Care

Working as a Live In Carer can be a particularly enjoyable and rewarding career; everything you do makes a positive difference. Not only are you delivering the highest quality dedicated care and support for your client, you also work closely with them to help them realise their personal goals and wishes.

A wide range of people receive live in care, from those who have become elderly and frail, have physical disabilities, terminal illness, or complex care needs, to mental health support needs or a learning disability. Without support, many elderly people can become lonely and isolated and the Live In Carer really comes into their own through providing friendship, companionship and a link to the outside world.

Typically, the following situations may require a Live In Carer:

  • Friendship and companionship
  • Respite care
  • Short term live in care for recovery from an operation, illness or injury
  • End of life care
  • Care for couples to prevent one from going into residential care
  • Parkinson's care
  • Stroke or brain injury rehabilitation
  • Dementia care

Tasks you may help with include:

  • Washing, dressing and personal appearance
  • Help with going to the toilet or managing continence
  • Ensuring medication is taken and on time
  • Preparing and cooking nutritious meals
  • Laundry, hoovering, tidying and cleaning
  • Changing and making the bed
  • Getting to medical appointments
  • Help with keeping up hobbies and interests
  • Assistance with mobility or getting out and about
  • Hoisting and manual handling
  • Help with looking after pets
  • Assistance with daily exercise
  • Teaching how to use a computer, tablet or smart phone
  • Teaching how to use Skype or Facetime to stay in touch with family and friends

Although you will be dedicated to your client, you will have the support of our experienced office and supervisory team, together with training opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.

You do not need professional experience to be successful as a live-in carer. We look for people who are passionate about care and have experience of care, which includes personal experience gained through caring for a family member.

Professional carers join us from a variety of backgrounds and various countries. Whilst all our vacancies are within the UK, we do recruit carers who reside in other parts of the world as long as they are eligible to work in the UK and have a good standard of English. We have staff from many different locations, including Spain, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Romania and Hungary. Many carers coming from different parts of the world share their time between working in the UK and enjoying their time off in their home countries, proving it can be a highly flexible career.
