Working for Us

We already know that Altogether Care is a great place to work, but don’t just take our word for it. See what some of our staff have to say about working for us.

Charlie (Senior Carer, Sherborne House Care Home, Yeovil) as told by Caroline, Registered Manager

Charlotte (Charlie) started at Sherborne House in 2009 at the mere age of 17. As part of her study for the Level 2 in Health & Social Care at Yeovil College she came to us on work experience every Friday for 7 months.

Unfortunately once she had completed her course I had no Carer vacancies and she went to work in a local residential home. However, in March 2011 she approached me for work and I was lucky enough to be able to employ her on a full time basis. Since working at Sherborne House, Altogether Care has enabled her to achieve NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care and she has just completed a Level 2 in Team Leading and Management. She has also undertaken various other training courses, including Dementia, to support her job role and has now worked as a Senior Carer for 2 years.

In her own words Charlie says the reason she enjoys her job so much is “working in a homely and friendly environment ensures all my clients receive a person centred approach to their care which enhances their interaction and relationships with others, and in turn gives me ultimate job satisfaction.”

I am so proud of Charlie. I feel she is a great example of what can be achieved.

Elouise & Jess (Accounts Assistants, Head Office, Weymouth)

We work as accounts assistants at Altogether Care’s Head Office. Our day is busy and varied - answering phone calls, processing invoices & payments, and many other administrative tasks such as assisting the financial officers with the monthly pay run. It’s always satisfying to ensure everyone is paid on time!

Working for Altogether Care appealed to us because our job role gives us real experience of the business side of the organisation, whilst being involved in the care sector. We find this rewarding as there is variety within our working environment together with opportunities to progress.

We started working at Altogether Care under an apprenticeship scheme, which has lead to us achieving Business and Administration qualifications. This has given us confidence to independently complete our day to day tasks to the required standard whilst learning new skills within our working environment.

Working at Head Office enables us to meet and work with lots of different people, staff from other branches within Altogether Care, care home residents and their families and clients fromthe care at home services.

Altogether Care has many career opportunities and is a great place to work

Ami (Field Care Supervisor, Care at Home, Bournemouth)

I love my job with Altogether Care because I am able to interact with both carers and clients whilst developing my supervisory skills. Working as a Field Care Supervisor has been a big confidence booster, as I have to communicate with a wide range of people; health and social care professionals, family members and fellow colleagues. I am seen as the ‘face’ of Care at Home (Bournemouth) and I get great job satisfaction dealing successfully with any staff or client queries or concerns.

I particularly enjoy completing the initial assessment with a new client as you really get to know them and their past history – it’s both rewarding and fascinating.

Altogether Care has opened up a lot of opportunities for me. I have completed the Level 5 in Health & Social Care & have attended various training courses to build my portfolio.

Above all, probably the best aspect of my job is that I am not just sitting in an office. I am out there, in the 'field of care' ensuring that our carers are delivering a consistently high standard of care to our service users, something which really enhances their comfort and day to day standard of living. It’s a great reason to get up in the morning!
